چکیده
We present a detailed analysis of the fundamental noise sources in superconducting transition-edge sensors (TESs), ac voltage biased at MHz frequencies and treated as weak links. have studied resistive transition function bath temperature several detectors with different normal resistances geometries. show that excess noise, typically observed TES electrical bandwidth, can be explained by equilibrium Johnson quasiparticles generated within link. The fluctuations Josephson frequency higher harmonics contribute significantly to measured detector bandwidth through nonlinear response link sinusoidal current-phase relation.

Voltage-Biased Superconducting Transition-Edge Bolometer with Strong Electrothermal Feedback Operated at 370 mK.
We present an experimental study of a composite voltage-biased superconducting bolometer (VSB). The tested VSB consists of a Ti-film superconducting thermometer (T(c) ~375 mK) on a Si substrate suspended by NbTi superconducting leads. A resistor attached to the substrate provides calibrated heat input into the bolometer. The current through the bolometer is measured with a superconducting quant...
متن کاملLongitudinal proximity effects in superconducting transition-edge sensors.
We have found experimentally that the critical current of a square thin-film superconducting transition-edge sensor (TES) depends exponentially upon the side length L and the square root of the temperature T, a behavior that has a natural theoretical explanation in terms of longitudinal proximity effects if the TES is regarded as a weak link between superconducting leads. As a consequence, the ...
متن کاملConclusive quantum steering with superconducting transition-edge sensors
Quantum steering allows two parties to verify shared entanglement even if one measurement device is untrusted. A conclusive demonstration of steering through the violation of a steering inequality is of considerable fundamental interest and opens up applications in quantum communication. To date, all experimental tests with single-photon states have relied on post selection, allowing untrusted ...
متن کاملFluctuations from edge defects in superconducting resonators
Superconducting resonators, used in astronomy and quantum computation, couple strongly to microscopic two-level defects. We monitor the microwave response of superconducting resonators and observe fluctuations in dissipation and resonance frequency. We present a unified model where the observed dissipative and dispersive effects can be explained as originating from a bath of fluctuating two-lev...
